Fixing Audio Problems When Using IPhone©

Audio problems are most common cause by the three following software settings:

Solution One (Outgoing Audio): Microphone is not selected as recording device in Windows© Audio Mixer
  1. To check this open the Audio mixer. This can be done by clicking the small speaker in the System Tray (bottom right of screen).
You can find this at the bottom left of your screen
  2. The Playback mixer will pop up, but we want the Recording mixer, to get this click on the "Options" menu then select "Properties"
Change from the Playback mixer to the Recording mixer.
  3. When you have done this another windows will pop up. You must click on the dot beside the word "Recording", then click "OK"
    Select recording instead of playback
  4. After you have done this, the mixer will now show the input levels instead of the output levels. Now you have to make sure that the slider is pulled up on the microphone control, and that there is a check mark in the "Select" box below the slider.

Solution Two (Incoming Audio): The output volume on IPhone© is turned down
  1. In IPhone© there is a volume control that allows you to control the volume coming out of your speakers. It is located below the incoming audio LED bar, sliding it to the right increases the level.

Solution Three (Outgoing Audio): Check the VOX setting and Run the Audio Test
  1. In IPhone© click on the "Audio" menu then select "Audio Test"

  2. When you do this the window below will pop up. If you click the "Start Test" button, IPhone© will record any thing you say in the microphone. When you are finished talking it will automatically playback what it just recorded. At the same time it also is setting the expected levels for your VOX. You also have the option to choose whether you are in a "Quiet" or "Noisy" Environment. These are preset delays that determine how long to continue sending audio after you stop speaking. In our picture it is set to manual, but that is because it is connected to the repeater. I would recommend "Quiet Environment" if the room you are in is fairly quiet.
